PUBLICATION DAY 31.1.22 HAS ARRIVED

When I retired in 2020, the dreaded virus had also just arrived. I needed something to keep me busy, so I began writing my first novel. I decided to set at a time 70 years ago. Although not autobiographical, it is partly based on my own memories then, intertwined with what I hope is an exciting adventure. I did a great deal of research in an effort to ensure that facts were all relevant to the time. Part of the book is set in seaside Margate, at an amusement complex called Dreamland, which has had quite a chequered history. As an example of the research, I found that the comedian, Marty Feldman, spent his summer working there as a clown in 1952 aged 18. Thus he plays a part in my book. At times I found that, strangely, the book almost seemed to write itself, and I obtained great enjoyment in the process. I do hope that you get as much pleasure in reading it.
